Culture and exhibitions Guided tours in August - Fossils that tell a lost world
📍 Pietrafitta (CS)
The Luigi Boldrini Paleontological Museum in Pietrafitta organizes a series of guided tours in August dedicated to the fossils of the Early Pleistocene, when the area was a lake basin. The guides accompany visitors among the remains of mammoths, rhinoceroses, hyenas and other large mammals, telling the story of the lost ecosystem and the excavation work that brought thousands of finds to light.
Each tour explores a different aspect of the collection: from fossil formation to laboratory preparation techniques, up to the reconstruction of ancient environments. The tour is suitable for families, enthusiasts and curious people of all ages.
The museum is one of the most important paleontological sites in central Italy, with unique finds such as the almost complete skeleton of a southern mammoth and skulls of carnivores rarely preserved.
